    Spells of Magic

Tuesday, July 29, 2008, 07:22 AM GMT [Rants]

While perusing the new blogs, I came across Virgo's Blog and decided to check out the link she was inquiring about. The website is called Spells of Magic, and what an absolute sham this place is. It is obviously aimed at people who are fairly new to the practice of magic, which is despicable. It can be hard enough to get good information without quacks running around making bogus claims.

So I post this as a word of warning, and hopefully with enough people getting the word out people won't get pulled into the site. I'm not asking you to believe my word alone, go surf around the site. Here are a few examples from their FAQ's:

"Are these real magic spells? Do they really work?
Yes, these are real spells. These spells are not just made up on the fly, they have been used for hundreds and sometimes thousands of years. Some of these spells have been found in an old Salem library, others were found in old and forgotten towns around eastern Europe. We have tested each of these spells and only include new spells which we have success with."

"Are spells always a good choice to fix what is wrong?
Generally yes, but if you are ill or in any sort of abusive relationship you should seek professional help and not rely on magic to help you. If you are in immediate danger you should contact the police or medical personal (911) immediatly."

Of course we can all go and heckle them. I'm up for a bit of mischief.

    Follow-up email about Ms. Gifford

Tuesday, July 1, 2008, 07:05 AM GMT [Rants]

After hearing her wanna-be apology I decided to write another email.

    To Whom It May Concern:

I emailed you a complaint previously regarding your “Who Knew?” segment of the Today Show on June 25, 2008.  During this segment Ms. Gifford called Pagans “nasty” and “bad.”

I had hoped for a public apology, and on June 27, 2008 Ms. Gifford gave a blanket apology to anyone she had ever offended.  This so-called apology is more insulting than her uneducated remark about Pagans.

Ms. Gifford needs to say what she did wrong, and why it was wrong.  Your viewers need to hear that religious intolerance will not be tolerated and that it is not something to be taken lightly.

If the producers or any member of the Today Show staff are having trouble figuring out what the big deal is, then change the word Pagan to the word Jew, or the “N” word, or use the name of your religion.  How would you feel?  How accepting of her apology would you be?  I think you would be shocked and insulted.  I am.

Please issue a real apology immediately as this whole situation is sickening.

    Regards

Kathy Lee Gifford, an apology (maybe) of sorts

Sunday, June 29, 2008, 06:09 AM GMT [Rants]

Well I guess she apologized. It was rather vague and I have no idea if she was referring to the Pagan remark at all.

Kathy Lee Gifford says Pagans are nasty and bad

Friday, June 27, 2008, 02:25 AM GMT [Rants]

Thank you for everyone for bringing it to light and for your actions on this so far.

You can listen to the comment here (skip forward to about 4:18):

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/25367292#25368216

You can email the show at: today@nbc.com

You can send postal mail to: 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10112

Here is the letter I emailed them:

    To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing in complaint of Kathy Lee Gifford’s opinion set forth about Pagans on your “Who Knew?” segment of the Today Show on June 25, 2008. Ms. Gifford said, and I quote, “Pagans. The nasty, bad Pagans…” I feel that regardless of her personal feelings on the subject it was extremely inappropriate for her to express those views in a professional setting such as she did. Religious intolerance will not tolerated from anyone in the media, even if said lightly during an entertainment segment.

Paganism is a fast growing religion that has world wide adherents. It is a legally recognized religion by the United States military and Pagans have the freedom of worship as a constitutionally guaranteed right provided in the religion clauses of the First Amendment.

I would hope you have the common decency to have Ms. Gifford issue a public apology forthwith. I expect, and look forward, to her rectification.

    Best Regards

    Grrr and Stuff!

Friday, October 26, 2007, 11:04 AM GMT [Rants]

Why must men be so annoying!  My live-in bf and I keep getting in these stupid fights over nothing, he won't even try to see my point of view and to me it just seems like he is throwing a fit to get his way and being selfish.  Examples:  We are both picky eaters but in different ways.  There are foods I just will not eat, and there are certain foods that I like prepared in a particular way like sandwiches.  He is a condiment whore.  He has particular condiments that he has to have with particular foods.  I don't just mean he eats ranch on everything, I mean he has to have ranch with pizza, BBQ sauce with chicken, steak sauce on beef, honey mustard on sandwiches, croutons and these crunchy salad toppings on salads, and sour cream on most everything else.  This is only a partial list too.  I honestly can't keep track of what he has to have on what.  Then he is also particular about other things to "customize" his food.  For example, I tell him I'm going to make a quesadilla for a snack and would he want one.  He'll say yes that sounds great, but can I add ham and honey mustard to it.  And instead of the shredded cheese will I slice some swiss for him?  It honestly drives me crazy and it is almost every meal! My particulars are I like my scrambled eggs fluffy, and I like the veggies on the bottom of a sandwich with the mustard touching the meat.  So tonight I comment on his pickiness, to which he says he isn’t picky at all and that I am picky and he won’t ask me to fix him anything special in the future. Then he pouts and mopes complete with stomping and sighing.  He knows I will do anything he asks because I love him, but heaven forbid I mention it or tease him about it.  Then it is the end of the world and the sky is going to fall.  So what did I want for dinner?  Grilled cheese with tomato soup, something quick and easy so we could carve our pumpkins.  Yes I told him that too.  First he moans and complains because he isn’t the biggest fan of tomato soup, but he decides it sounds good.  Then he had to have a particular type of cheese which instead of pre-sliced, I have to slice.  Then he refuses to have tomato soup because it is actually V8 and won’t be sweet.  So he mopes and says he will just have a grilled cheese sandwich, which to me isn’t a very good dinner.  Then I made the mistake of saying that everything he eats doesn’t have to be sweet.  End of the world!  So he throws a fit and acts like I was forcing him to eat it. So we eat dinner, regular sandwiches, and carve our pumpkins.  I finished before him and when he finally finished I asked if we could smoke before we cleaned up because I had been waiting for him to be finished to go outside and smoke.  His response?  No I want to clean up first so I can go to bed after I smoke.  My response?  Why does it make a difference which you do first?  So apparently he has to go to bed directly after smoking and I shouldn’t question him about it because he doesn’t think he needs a reason.  Okay then.  So the other day when I asked him to not to put the cheese bread box in the recycling because it was bulkly and asked him to set it on the counter if he didn’t want to take it outside and he pissed and moaned because he thought that was stupid, I guess I should have said that I don’t need a reason?  Whatever.  Asshole.
